Diet Untuk Penderita PCOS

Terapi nutrisi bisa membuat wanita dengan Polycytic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) atau gangguan keseimbangan kadar hormon, memiliki peluang mendapatkan kehamilan. Ini contoh menu terapi nutrisi untuk si PCOS. Sarapan sebaiknya terdiri dari jenis makanan rendah lemak dan kaya serat contohnya:
• Gandum atau oatmeal, putih telur rebus atau goreng.
• Wafel dengan saus apel dan susu skim.
• Oatmeal dengan buah dan yoghurt.
• Muffin gandum, yoghurt, potongan buah segar.
• Roti gandum, telur, dan secangkir teh tanpa gula.
Makan siang sebaiknya terdiri dari jenis makanan rendah karbohidrat, banyak sayuran hijau, dan protein. Contohnya:
• Sup kacang merah, sandwich dari roti gandum, dan potongan buah segar.
• Salad sayuran dengan tambahan ayam panggang atau daging, ikan tuna atau ikan salmon, dan jus buah segar tanpa gula
• Burger sayuran dan selada tomat, bawang bombay, mustard, dan jus apel.
• Ayam panggang, sayuran kukus atau masakan sayuran berkuah (sayur bayam).
• Sup sayuran seperti wortel, brokoli, yoghurt tanpa tambahan gula, buah-buahan segar seperti stroberi atau jeruk atau apel.
Makan malam sebaiknya terdiri dari jenis makanan dengan kandungan karbohidrat sedang – memiliki indeks glikemik sedang — , protein, serta lemak. Contohnya:
• Potongan daging panggang tanpa lemak nasi beras merah, dan cah sayuran (brokoli dan wortel).
• Ayam panggang atau goreng, sayuran berkuah, es krim rendah lemak atau bebas lemak.
• Ikan seperti salmon dan tuna bakar dengan olesan minyak zaitun, sayuran rebus, dan buah segar.
• Nasi goreng udang dengan menggunakan beras merah, sayuran tumis atau capcay, yoghurt dan potongan buah segar.

Bijaksana memilih jenis karbohidrat. Karbohidrat merupakan sumber energi yang akan diurai menjadi glukosa. Energi yang dihasilkannya digunakan tubuh untuk berbagai proses metabolisma. Bagi wanita dengan PCOS yang kelebihan berat badan, menurut Hillary M. Wright, Med, RD, LDN, pakar gizi penulis buku “The PCOS Diet Plan: A Natural Approach to Health for Women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome,” pilihlah sumber karbohidrat seperti sayur dan buah-buahan, yang mengandung gula alami dan kadar serat tinggi. Juga karbohidrat berupa zat pati dalam sayuran, biji-bijian, kacang polong, dan kacang kering yang dimasak. Hindari konsumsi makanan yang hanya mengandung karbohidrat dan gula saja, seperti kerupuk, permen, kentang, pasta, dan camilan manis.

Pilih yang rendah indeks glikemik. Sebuah riset yang dipublikasikan dalam American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, edisi Juli 2010, menyebutkan wanita dengan PCOS yang menjaga indeks glikemiknya tetap rendah dengan menjaga pola makan sehat, melaporkansiklus haid mereka menjadi teratur. Artinya, tingkat kesuburan mereka juga meningkat sehingga memiliki peluang untuk hamil. Indeks glikemik adalah ukuran kecepatan suatu jenis makanan diurai oleh tubuh menjadi gula dan selanjutnya diserap menjadi gula darah. Semakin tinggi indeks glikemik jenis makanan, makin cepat makanan diserap tubuh ke dalam darah, yang meningkatkan kadar gula darah. Gula murni adalah pemilik indeks glikemik paling tinggi, yaitu, 100.
• Makanan dengan indeks glikemik tinggi antara lain kerupuk (87±2), keripik jagung (81±6), bubur beras (78±9), kentang rebus (78±4), semangka (76±4), roti gandum (74±2), nasi putih (73±4)
• Makanan dan minuman dengan indeks glikemik sedang antara lain nasi beras merah (68±4), popcorn (65±5), kentang goreng (63±5), madu (61±3), minuman bersoda (59±3), buah mangga (59±8),
• Makanan dan minuman dengan indeks glikemik rendah antara lain bihun (53±7), jagung manis (52±5), es krim (51±3), jus jeruk (50±2), pisang (43±3), yoghurt (41±2), coklat (40±3), wortel rebus (39±4)

Makanan tinggi protein seperti telur, ikan, daging, tempe, dan tahu biasanya mengandung karbohidrat rendah, yang membuat kadar gula normal dan menurunkan jumlah insulin yang dihasilkan pankreas. Kadar insulin yang rendah akan menurunkan kadar hormon androgen yang diproduksi ovarium. Artinya, sel-sel telur di dalam ovarium berkesempatan untuk matang, yang memungkinkan terjadinya kehamilan!
